Bushmaster's Carbon 15 Type 97 Rifle is a feather-weight with fire-power! At a slight 3.9* pounds, this rifle is chambered for the powerful 5.56mm NATO cartridge but will accept the nearly identical .223 Remington as well. The Upper and Lower Receivers, Buttstock and Forend are all molded of state of the art Carbon Fiber material that offers incredible durability, strength and ultra-light weight. Carbon 15 is impervious to weather, moisture or corrosion and requires only minimal lubrication through the life of this durable firearm. The rifle's highly accurate, fluted, stainless steel match grade barrel offers light weight and resistance to corrosion. It is fitted with a unique Quick Detach Compensator that reduces muzzle rise and felt recoil, and offers easy cleanout of any powder residue.
Lightweight Carbon 15 Composite Receivers - 40% stronger and 40% lighter than standard aircraft aluminum components. Carbon 15 is not affected by moisture - cannot corrode - matte black color throughout - no surface finish to wear off. Upper Receiver is fitted with Anodized Aluminum Picatinny Rail for unlimited optics/sight mounting. 16" Barrel turned in M4 configuration - Chambered for 5.56mm NATO caliber - accepts .223 Remington equally well - Barrel is chrome lined in bore and chamber for long wear & ease of maintenance. Izzy Flash Suppressor fitted to standard threaded muzzle (1/2” x 28 T.p.I.). Barrel finish is mil. spec. Manganese Phosphate for protection against corrosion and rust. Standard AR type front sight base with post is fitted - adjustable for elevation. A Bushmaster Modular Accessories System flip-up rear sight is included - adjustable for windage.
The Bushmaster SuperLight - our lightest 16" Barrel (.670” to .565” diam. under the handguard, .625” diam. under the sight base, and .570” diam. out to the muzzle), in combination with either the Six Position TeleStock or the “Stubby” Stock make a sweet handling, easy to shoot carbine. They are available in either A2 type (Fixed Carry Handle and Stubby Stock shown above) or A3 Type with Removable Carry Handle (shown at top above with TeleStock). The Stubby Style buttstock - designed originally for body armored Law Enforcement Officer use - is .47 lbs. lighter than the TeleStock. Bushmaster's Newest Carbon 15 .223 Caliber Rifle, The Lady weighs just under four pounds - perfect for ladies and small stature individuals. It features an overall Birdseye Maple Pattern coating on receiver, buttstock, and forend, and select operating controls are accented with nickel plating. A special feature of the XM15 E2S Shorty, lightweight carbine model is the “Flat-top” (A3) type Upper Receiver which makes possible the attachment of a variety of sights, scopes or night vision optics - adding to the versatility of this carbine. Ribbed Shorty handguards keep weight down to a minimum, as do the thermoset polymer composite handguards, pistol grip and stock.
The versatile XM15 E2S Dissipator carbine (16" barrel) has features that make it unique in the Bushmaster Xm15 family. It's operating system's gas block located behind the front sight base and under the ribbed Dissipator handguards. The full length handguards and correct placement of the sight base allow for optimal use of the full sight radius designed into the M16A2 sight system. Handguards are molded of thermoset polymer composite, and their air vents and internal heat shields keep the barrel cool during periods of rapid fire.
